About the Department

The Department of Pharmacognosy at Dnyandeep College of Pharmacy, Boraj, Khed is devoted to the systematic study of medicinal drugs derived from natural sources, including plants, microbes, and marine organisms. The department bridges traditional herbal wisdom with contemporary phytopharmaceutical analysis and quality control.

Our students receive thorough practical instruction in morphological and microscopical evaluation, phytochemical screening, extraction and isolation techniques, and chromatographic standardization of crude drugs and traditional formulations. The Konkan region's rich botanical diversity serves as a natural learning laboratory, inspiring field collection drives, herbarium curation, and indigenous flora research.

Equipped with modern botanical analytical instruments, projection microscopes, and extraction setups, the department actively participates in interdisciplinary research, student research conventions like Aavishkar, and herbal product development initiatives.
